Term 1 - Bio Project Reflection
1. Describe what you had to do in the assignment.
In this biography project, I was asked to choose a person I admire, and then create a website to inform readers about this person, and persuade them to admire them too. This webpage would have four categories; introduction, biography, accomplishments, and citations. The introduction was to be a quick overview of the chosen person; just enough to entice the reader. The biography page was where the reader would learn about the chosen person. It would include biographical information. I had some trouble with this part because the person I chose was under 18, so most information was not available. The accomplishments page would be where the person's accomplishments would go. I decided to include future ambitions because Bella is only 17 years old, and has the rest of her life ahead of her. Lastly, the citations page would be where a list of resources that were used would go. It had to be created using HTML code. In addition, each page was required to have a minimum of one picture, and its own unique banner that I designed.

2. Describe the technology skills you had to use to complete this assignment.
I have used many new technology skills to complete this project, including HTML code, Weebly, and overall visual design. When I first started this class, I didn't even know what HTML code was. I couldn't recognize any of it and had no interest in it. I learned how to use some more tools in Weebly. In order to complete this assignment, I also leaned about visual design, and what makes a good website.

3. Describe what you learned and accomplished by creating this piece of work.
By creating this piece of work, I learned how to use HTML code, a bit more about Weebly, and more about overall visual design. This was my first time using HTML code. I found it tricky, time-consuming, and frustrating because if one mistake is made, it changes the entire code. It is also hard to find your mistake sometimes. However, I do recognize that it is a basic skill needed in web design, and am now able to use it. I also learned a bit more about Weebly. I already knew the basics because of my graphics classes, but I went deeper for my work on this project. For example, I am now able to embed a YouTube video and create bulleted text. I learned about what made a good webpage as well. A good website is informational, accurate, easy to read, and able to keep a reader interested. The website should not have big paragraphs filled with information; it should be broken up into several smaller paragraphs or bulleted information. I believe my webpage is a good example of this.

4. Explain what you did well in this assignment.
My skills using Weebly are displayed in this project, and I believe I used Weebly to my advantage. My entire Weebly site is cohesive and is easy to follow. I like my banners because they are relevant images and text that help the reader understand what will be on the page underneath the banner. I also believe I separated my text well. My information is in nice, short little paragraphs with pictures. I learned that you could switch the sides on the "image with text" tool, which I like because it changes the look of the page.

5. Explain what you would do differently to improve your work in this assignment.
There are a few things I would do differently to improve my project. I would bullet my accomplishments and future ambitions page, which would make it easier to communicate the accomplishments and ambitions. I would also find better backgrounds for two of my banners. In addition, I would change the theme of my entire webpage before I started on the banners. I didn't realize that banners would not be saved when themes are changed. I have had the same theme for three years now, and am getting sick of it. I had found a newer, fresher, and more professional theme, but could not change it because it would delete my banners. Overall, I am proud of my webpage and hope as the year goes on to improve my skills.
